Babson Park, MA --- Three WPI women's swimmers and divers have been selected to receive honors on the 2007-08 NEWMAC All-Academic team.

Junior Jessie Brasefield (Manchester, CT) and sophomore diver Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) make their first appearance on the team while senior Allison Elder (North Adams, MA) has been tabbed for the third straight year.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The NEWMAC consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

The WPI women's swimming and diving team finished the season with a 1-9 record in dual meets and a 10th place finish at the NEWMAC Championships three weeks ago.  The Engineers are coached by Paul Bennett.
