WPI Splits Opening Meet Of Season With Wheaton And Gordon

Norton, MA ---The WPI women’s swimming and diving team opened its season by spliting a pair of meets at the Wheaton double-duals on Saturday afternoon. The Enginners scored an impressive 201-68 victory over Gordon but fell to host Wheaton 174-109.
Sophomore Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) distinguished herself by setting a new school record in 1 meter diving (236.91) and by placing first in 3 meter diving (225). Sophomore Karen O’Sullivan (Pelham, NH) finished first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.74) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.60). Freshman Amanda Blom (Wilkes Barre, PA) also won the 200-yard Butterfly (2:40.34) and finished second behind O’Sullivan in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:37.08.
WPI’s 400-yard free style relay teams ended the meet by finishing in first (4:11.23) and second (4:36.44) place.
The Engineers will travel to Babson Park on November 5 to face-off versus Babson. The meet will begin at 1pm.
