Babson Defeats WPI Women's Swimming and Diving 127-102

Babson Park, MA --- The WPI women’s swimming and diving team dropped a 127-102 loss to Babson on Saturday afternoon. With the defeat, WPI falls to 1-2 on the young season.
Sophomore Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT) was outstanding for the Engineers as she swam to a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.94) and second place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:55.07). Junior Karen O’Sullivan (Pelham, NH) grabbed second place finishes in the 200-yard IM (2:25.04) and 100-yard freestyle (59.67) while Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) and Amanda Blom (Wilkes Barre, PA) took home second in the 50-yard freestyle (28.58) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.34), respectively.
In relay action, the 200-yard medley team of Hallie Schiess (Wilmot, NH), Kelsey Thomas (Webster, NY), Blom and Bierkan placed second while the 200-yard freestyle team of O’Sullivan, Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT), Thomas and Allison Elder (North Adams, MA) also came away with second place.
Up next, WPI travels to Coast Guard on Saturday for a meet beginning at 1pm.
