WPI Women's Swimming and Diving falls to Keene State 151-81

Keene, NH - Diver Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) dominated the boards and picked up two first place finishes, but saw her team fall to Keene State 157-81 on Saturday afternoon.

Guardino scored 236.91 points to win the one meter before registering another 207.50 to run away with the three meter event. Teammate Jessie Brasefield (Manchester, CT) dove well also, with a third place finish in the one meter (164.45) and second place in three meter (162.10). Senior Kristine Mischler (Cincinnati, OH) finished third in the three meter (161.95) to help the Engineers sweep the event.

Karen O’Sullivan (Pelham, NH) captured second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.86) and 200-yard IM (2:22.45) before teaming up with Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH), Amanda Blom (Wilkes Barre, PA) and Allison Elder (North Adams, MA) to finish third (4:37.99) in the 400-yard medley relay. Blom swam to third place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:41.70) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:47.46) while Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT) took home third in the 100 (59.79) and 200-yard (2:10.36) freestyles.

Other top finishes included Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) in the 50-yard freestyle (3rd; 28.05) and Julie Buffam (Westfield, MA) in the 500-yard freestyle (2nd; 6:30.13). Wrapping things up for the Engineers was the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Bierkan, Jenkins, Kelsey Thomas (Webster, NY) and Andrea Bisson (Plymouth, MA) who combined to take second place with their time of 1:54.05.

Women’s swimming and diving returns to action on January 12th when they travel to Bryant for a meet beginning at noon.
