Lybarger Takes Home Fourth Career NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week Award
Babson Park, MA --- WPI's Andrew Lybarger (Decatur, GA) has earned NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, February 5th. The senior takes home the honor for the second time this season and third in his career.
Lybarger racked up seven individual victories in a pair of dual meets last week for the Engineers. In a 172-111 victory over Bridgewater State, Lybarger celebrated Senior Day by winning the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.11), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.36), the 50-yard breaststroke (29.81) and the 100-yard butterfly (53.41). Earlier in the week versus Clark, the senior Lybarger placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a winning time of 1:50.29. In the very next men's event, Lybarger won the 50-yard freestyle (22.35), and later was triumphant in the 100-yard freestyle (48.52).
Lybarger has also been honored as NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week on January 23, 2012, December 6th, 2010 and February 9th, 2009.
After taking this week off, WPI will travel to MIT for the NEWMAC Championships from Friday, February 17th through Sunday, February 19th.
