Westwood, MA --- WPI junior Dave Chen (Niantic, CT) was named as the NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week and the 400-yard freestyle quartet of senior Jean Philippe Miralda (Tegucigalpa, Honduras), freshman Sid Williams (Irvine, CA), graduate student Craig Barrett (Edinburgh, Scotland) and senior Jack Bauer (Cumberland, RI) was lauded as the NEWMAC Men's Relay of the Week.

Chen swept the breaststrokes as the Engineers went 3-0 versus host Wesleyan, No. 11 Tufts and No. 18 Williams Saturday. The junior clocked with a 26.45 in the 50, a 57.63 in the 100 and a 2:08.89 in the 200.

At the end of the meet, the 400-yard freestyle relay was just over a second quicker (3:08.79-3:09.83) than the group from Williams to secure the 151-150 triumph. The Engineers also bested the nationally-ranked Jumbos and host Wesleyan for a 7-2 record heading into the break.

Springfield senior Connor Pennington (Monson, MA) was selected as the NEWMAC Diver of the Week.

WPI, who is receiving votes in the most recent CSCAA national poll (Nov. 14), is back in action on January 12 at No. 19 Stevens Institute of Technology. A new poll is scheduled to be released on Wednesday.
