WPI Women's Indoor Track and Field Places 18th at New England Division III Championships

Portland, ME -- The WPI Women's Track and Field team posted for a 19th place finish at the New England Division III Championships at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.  Williams placed first at the event followed by Tufts and Amherst.

Megan Murphy (Perkasie, PA) placed fourth while setting a school record in the 800-meter run to help WPI to a 19th place finish at the New England Division III Championships held at Southern Maine on Saturday.  Murphy's time of 2:19.66 set a new school record in the 800-meter defeating teammate Meghan Woods (Hanover, MA) time of 2:21.48 set in 2006.

Amanda Gurnon (Tolland, CT) placed seventh in the 55-meter hurdles (9.15) while Woods, Sam Cote (North Andover, MA), Danielle Volpe (Chelmsford, MA), and Murphy teamed up to take a fifth place finish in the 4 x 400 relay (4:11.04).  Cote finished 17th in the 400-meter dash (1:03.60) and Woods placed tenth in the one mile run with her time of 5:20.77.

Koren Roach (Plymouth, NH) recorded a time of 27.64 to finish 13th in the 200-meter dash before joining forces with Phoebe Riley (Pomfret, CT), Liz Schreiber (Ashfield, MA) and Volpe to finish 12th in the 4 x 200 relay with their time of 1:53.07.

WPI Women's Track and Field competes at the ECAC Championships at Wesleyan University on Saturday, March 3rd.
