Women's Outdoor Track and Field Competes at Trinity Invitational

Hartford, CT --- The WPI Women's Track and Field team kicked off its outdoor season at the non-scoring Trinity Invitational on Saturday.  Sprinter Koren Roach (Plymouth, MA) ran to a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash (27.52) and placed sixth in the 100 meter (13.36).  Freshman Krista Baker (Medway, MA) had a great day throwing, grabbing WPI's only first place finish of the day in the discus (108-01) with teammate Liz Villani (Baiting Hollow, NY) finishing third (93-09).  Baker earned a seventh place finish in the shot-put earlier in the day (31-08). 

Megan Murphy (Perkasie, PA) finished fifth in the 800 meter run (2:20.30) while Amanda Gurnon (Tolland, CT) placed eighth in the 100 meter hurdles (17.51) before claiming a fifth place spot in the triple jump (30-07.50).  Freshman Liz Schreiber (Ashfield, MA) finished fourth in the hammer throw (88-09) before taking a seventh place spot in the javelin (93-03) while classmate Stacy Rudolf (Somers, CT) placed eighth in the high jump (4-07.75). 

In relay action Gurnon and Roach teamed up with Danielle Volpe (Chelmsford, MA) and Phoebe Riley (Pomfret, CT) for a fifth place finish in the 4 x 100 relay (54.07). 

Women's Track and Field competes for the Engineers Cup at Rensselaer on Saturday.
