WPI Men's Track and Field Finishes Second at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College
New London, CT - Men's track put together an outstanding performance to collect 138.50 points and finish second out of sixteen teams at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College.
Kevin Jillson (East Sandwich, MA) and Shaun Price (Boston, MA) each grabbed first place finishes for WPI with Jillson winning the 3000 meter steeplechase (10:00.27) before Price took first in the triple jump (44-08.25). Price also took second in the 100 meter dash (11.49) while Joe Krasinskas (Sutton, MA) placed third in the 400 meter dash (51.07) and fourth in the high jump (5-11.25).
Middle distance runner Chris McCann (Haverhill, MA) ran to a third place finish in the 800 meter run (1:57.61) and Dan Duffy (Haverhill, MA) finished second in the 10000 meter run (35:25.64). Ben Roy (Buxton, ME) placed second in the 110 meter hurdles (15.69) while fellow hurdler Jeremy Shaw (Hampton, NH) earned a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (57.06). The 4 x 400 relay team of Shaw, McCann, Brandon Sweet (Foxboro, MA) and Nick Holovina (Northboro, MA) outran everybody to place first with their time of 3:29.23.
Shawn Wilhelm (Milford, CT) vaulted to a fourth place finish in the pole vault (11-09.00) while Matt Duncan (Southboro, MA) came in second in the discus (124-06). Scott Sideleau (Winchendon, MA) rounded out the day for the Crimson and Gray with his fourth place finish in the hammer throw (157-01).
Men's track travels to Coast Guard to compete at the NEWMAC Championships on Saturday.
