WPI Women's Track and Field Places 24th at the Division III New England Championships

Springfield, MA - Amanda Gurnon (Tolland, CT) and Krista Baker (Medway, MA) each earned All-New England honors in their respective events to help WPI to a 24th place finish at the New England Division III Women's Track and Field Championships at Springfield College. 

Gurnon took a sixth place finish in the heptathlon (3540 points) while Baker took an eighth place finish in the discus (116-07).  Other competitors for the Engineers included Megan Murphy (Perkasie, PA) in the 800 meter run (2:21.36), Meghan Woods (Hanover, MA) in the 1500 meter run (4:55.49) and Gurnon in the 100 meter hurdles (16.22). 

In relay action, the 4 x 400 relay team of Woods, Murphy, Liz Schreiber (Ashfield, MA) and Koren Roach (Plymouth, NH)  took a ninth place finish (4:13.3) while the 4 x 100 team of Gurnon, Schreiber, Roach and Phoebe Riley (Pomfret, CT) placed fifteenth with their time of 52.82. 

Several members of the women's track team will compete at the ECAC Championships beginning on May 17th at SUNY Oneonta.
