Roy Takes the Top Spot in the 55 Hurdles at MIT Coed Invitational

Boston, MA --- Men's track and field saw many outstanding performances at the MIT Coed Invitational, a non-team scoring meet.
Ben Roy (Buxton, ME) led the way for the Engineers with a victory in the 55 meter hurdles (7.80). Senior Chris McCann (Haverhill, MA) raced to a second place finish in the 800 meter run (1:58.62) while Jarret Arredondo (Somerville, MA), Fran Collins (Springfield, MA) and Jeff Baker (Wallingford, CT) placed second (49-07.00), third (47-05.00) and fifth (44-06.00) in the weight throw, respectively. Collins also placed fourth in the shot-put (42-08.25). Shaun Price (Boston, MA) sprinted to third in the 55 meter dash (6.79) while Devin Auclair (Marlboro, MA) finished fourth (6.95).
Nick Holovnia (Northboro, MA) and Shaun Tirrell (Burlington, VA) combined to take home third (1:26.09) and fourth (1:26.93) in the 600 meter dash while Eric Koethe (Chelmsford, MA) placed third in the 400 meter dash (53.34) before teaming with Chris Gabrielson (Westford, MA), Scott Woodnorth (Whitefish Bay, WI) and McCann to finish third in the 4 x 400 meter relay.
Other top finishes include Keith Flanders (Westford, MA) in the one mile run (3rd; 4:49.60), Isaiah Janzen (Sabetha, KS) in the 3000 meter run (9:01.93), Michael Ashman (Weatogue, CT) in the one mile run (4:55.54) and Matija Zelic (Westboro, MA) in the high jump (4th; 6:01.25). The distance medley relay team of Ashman, Tirrell, Paul Sullivan (Manchester, CT) and Flanders placed second (11:50.08) to cap off the competition.
Up next, several members of the men's track and field team will compete at the New England Division III Championships at Tufts University.
