14 Men's Track Student-Athletes Named Academic All-NEWMAC

Babson Park, MA --- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2008 Men's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday. WPI placed 14 student-athletes on the team this year, which is the second most in the conference behind MIT.
Seniors Pat Benson (Foxboro, MA), Jon Bourque (Biddeford, ME), Devin Auclair (Marlboro, MA), Anthony DiOrio (Windham, NH) and Lou Grillon (West Springfield, MA) were selected for their final year of track and field. Other members of the team include juniors Kevin Jillson (East Sandwich, MA) and Joe Krasinskas (Sutton, MA), sophomores Jarrett Arredondo (Somerville, MA), Fran Collins (Springfield, MA), Dan Duffty (Haverhill, MA), Greg Kinneman (North Andover, MA), Jeff Root (Milford, CT) and Andrew Yee (Boston, MA). Closing out the honorees on the Academic All-Conference team is graduate student Eugene Douglass (Concord, NH).
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
