Baker and Arredondo Earn Spots at NCAA Championships

Worcester, MA --- WPI Men's Track and Field athletes Jeff Baker (Wallingford, CT) and Jarrett Arredondo (Somerville, MA) have been selected to compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Arredondo will be participating in the hammer throw on Friday at 6pm while Baker will be competing in the javelin at noon on Saturday.
Baker won four meets during his freshman season, highlighted by his qualifying mark of 198-6 feet while winning the NEWMAC Championship on April 26th at Smith. He finished second at the New England Division III Championships and fourth at this past weekend's ECAC Championships. Baker is seeded 11th at the NCAA Championships and will be the first thrower in flight two. The event will feature defending champion Joel Krebs of George Fox (OR).
Arredondo earned his trip to Oshkosh with a throw of 176-11 feet at this past weekend's ECAC Championships at Springfield. The sophomore won three of four regular season meets before placing third at the NEWMAC Championships, fifth at New England Division III Championships and third at the ECAC Championships. Arredondo is seeded 14th and will also be the first thrower in flight two.
The Engineers are coach by Mike Maceiko. The assistant coach is Brian Chabot while Mike Stomski is the throws coach.
