Jillson Selected to the ESPN The Magazine/Co-SIDA All-American Third Team
Kevin Jillson
Worcester, MA --- Junior distance runner Kevin Jillson (East Sandwich, MA) has been named an ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA) Academic All-American for track & field and cross county. Jillson received third team college division honors after earning first team All-District I accolades earlier this month.
Jillson, has complied an impressive 3.97 grade point average while majoring in Biochemistry. He has been named a Charles O'Toole Scholar, a Pfizer Fellowship recipient and has earned the Herb Beall General Chemistry Award. Jillson is a member of WPI's Pre-Med Society and is also a Big Brothers/Big Sister and UMass Medical Volunteer.
This past fall, Jillson was named the NEWMAC Athlete of the Week on October 15th, after finishing second at the Western New England College Invitational. At the NCAA New England Regional's, Jillson was the Engineers top finisher as he finished 84th, to help the Engineers finish 14th out of 47 schools in attendance.
In the spring, Jillson picked up second team All-NEWMAC honors by placing second in the 5000 meter run, while also finishing third in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the NEWMAC Outdoor Championships. He also earned All-New England Division III and All-ECAC honors after finishing eighth in the steeplechase in both meets.
Jillson joins junior Ben Gilde (Men's Soccer - Second Team) and senior Lynn Worobey (Women's Soccer - Third Team) as WPI student-athletes named ESPN The Magazine/Co-SIDA Academic All-Americans during the 2007-2008 academic year.
