WPI Men's Indoor Track and Field performs well at Northeastern Invitational

Boston, MA --- The WPI men’s indoor track and field season began today at the Husky Winter Carnival which was held at Northeastern University on Saturday afternoon. The meet was a non-scoring competition and it featured several outstanding performances by individual team members.
The Engineers were led by Benjamin Roy’s (Buxton, ME) seventh place finish in the 55m high hurdles (8:03) and senior Shaun Price’s (Boston, MA) second place leap in the triple-jump (44-05.50). Roy would also finish the meet placing 12th in the 200m dash (23.46) and Price would take 28th in the 55m dash (6.89).
Nick Holvina (Northboro, MA) placed 19th (52.13) in the 400 meter dash while senior Devin Auclair placed 31st (24.06) in the 200 meter dash and classmate Eric Koethe took 31st (53.31) in the 400.
Senior Chris McCann (Haverhill, MA) led the way in the distance events for the Crimson and Gray with his 13th (4:31) and 14th (2:38) place finishes in the 1 mile and 1000 meter runs, respectively. Sophomore Chris Gabrielson (Westford, MA) crossed the line in 32nd (4:41) in the one mile run while junior Kevin Jillson (East Sanwhich, MA) finished in 25th (9:19) and 15th (15:51) in the 3000 and 5000 meter runs, respectively.
In the field, senior Anthony DiOrio (Windham, NH) took home 24th (19-02.00) place in the long jump while sophomore Jarrett Arrendondo (Somerville, MA; 40-09.50) and freshman Jeff Baker (Wallingford, CT; 40-15.00) finished in 16-17th places in the shot put.
WPI’s next meet will be at Brandeis on January 19. The first starting gun will sound at noon.
