Northampton, MA ---   Junior Meghan Wood's (Hanover, MA) second place finish in the 800 meter run helped the Engineers to an eleventh place finish at Smith College's Tartan Invitational on Saturday.  WPI combined for 27.5 points and finished behind meet winner Rensselaer with 154.50 points. 

Woods completed the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.33 to grab WPI's top finish at the meet.  Freshman Deanna Flaherty (Millbury, MA) grabbed fourth place (33-05.25) in the shot-put before finishing tenth (31-05.75) behind teammate Liz Schreiber (Ashfield, MA) in the weight throw (6th; 33-01.00).  Beth Hegarty (Springfield, MA) took home sixth place in the one mile run (5:50.34) and Anne Roceheleau (Shrewsbury, MA) placed ninth in the 1000 meter run (3:24.84). 

Capping off the day for the Engineers was Stacy Rudolf (Somers, CT) who jumped to eighth place (4-09.00) in the high jump. 

Up next, women's track and field will compete at the MIT Invitational on Saturday beginning at 11am.
