Baker Earns Bronze at ECAC Division III Championships

Springfield, MA --- WPI sophomore Krista Baker (Medway, MA) placed third in the discus (121-02) while senior Megan Murphy (Perkasie, PA) she placed ninth in the 800 meter run (2:19.42) on day two of the ECAC Division III Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon hosted by Springfield.

The WPI Men ended the meet in 18th place with 14 total team points while the women took home 35th with 6 points. Morivan won both the Men's and Women's Outdoor ECAC Division III titles. 

Sophomore Benjamin Roy (Buxton, ME) earned All-ECAC honors as he finished the decathlon in seventh with 5661 points.  

In relay action, the Engineers 4 x 100 relay team of Roy and senior classmates Devin Auclair (Marlboro, MA), Shaun Price (Boston, MA) and Tyson Nason (Gorham, ME) registered ninth with a time of 43.24. 

Junior Kevin Jillson (East Sandwich, MA) finished 16th in the 5000 (15:36.44) while senior Chris McCann (Haverhill, MA) notched 20th and 22nd in the 800 (1:56.10) and 1500 (4:22.56), respectively. 

Select members of the men's team will wait and see if their NCAA provisional times were good enough to qualify for the Division III Outdoor meet. The three-day event will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh next week.
