WPI Women's Indoor Track and Field Fields Strong Team at Northeastern Invitational

Boston, MA --- The WPI women’s indoor track and field season began today at the Husky Winter Carnival which was held at Northeastern University on Saturday afternoon. The meet was a non-scoring competition which featured several strong performances by individual team members.

Sophomore Liz Schreiber (Ashfield, MA) led the way for the Engineers in the 400 meter dash with her 18th (1:04.17) place finish while classmate Danielle Volpe (Chelmsford, MA) finished in 40th (1:08.83) in the same event. Junior Meghan Woods (Hanover, MA) crossed the line in 25th (5:35) place in the one mile run while sophomore Anne Rocheleau (Shrewsbury, MA) finished in 32nd (6:08).

Freshman Faith Gilmore (Mathuen, MA) placed 23rd (3:39) in the 1000 meter run while classmate Michelle Maurice (Wolcott, MA) finished in 25th (11:43) place in the 3000 meter run.

In the field, freshman Deanna Flaherty (Milbury, MA) threw a 27th (29-09.25) and 30th (26-05.75) place finish in the shot put and weight throw, respectively.

The Crimson and Gray will continue their season when they travel to Waltham for the Brandies Invitational on January 19th at 12pm.
