Boston, MA --- Junior Antoine Harris (Southington, CT) destroyed the 200-meter run record while 10 more members of the WPI men's track & field team handed in personal-bests Saturday at the BU Valentine Invitational.
Harris, the top Division III finisher in the 200, posted a time of 21.86 which is currently No. 12 on the NCAA performance list. The mark was .67 seconds faster than the runner up in the heat and .34 quicker than the previous WPI standard set by Austin Holliday in 2015. Senior Warren Staver (Centreville, MD) and freshman Matt Adiletta (Bolton, MA) were .02 apart with times of 22.48 and 22.50, respectively.
Junior Ryan Wittenberg (Bedford, NH) clocked a 50.15 in the 400-meter dash while junior Remi Gaetjens (Limerick, ME) delivered a 2:36.65 in the 1,000-meter run. Senior Jimmy Doty (Queensbury, NY), who normally runs the 600-meter run, registered a 1:08.20 in his first 500 which translates to a projected PR of 1:25.93 in the longer race. Sophomore Kevin O'Driscoll (Norwell, MA) completed the 800-meter run in 1:57.08 and freshman Yossef Naim (Marlboro, MA), competing in his second 800, recorded a time of 2:00.21.
Freshman Oliver Thomas (Goffstown, NH) was one of two DIII student-athletes to make the 60-meter hurdle finals where he delivered a time of 8.34. The long jump, meanwhile, saw senior Jack DeVine (Wilbraham, MA) reach a distance of 21-04.75. Sophomore Tom Hanlon (Derry, NH) ran a 4:22.56 mile while graduate student Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) was .29 seconds off his school-record time from last week with a 4:13.34.
The men's and women's track & field teams will be on their own once again next weekend as the men hit the road for Middlebury and the women head west to Springfield for the New England Division III Championships. The list below does not indicate intent to compete.
