After six years with the WPI track and field programs, including the last four as head coach, Mike Maceiko moves to a volunteer assistant role for the 2008-2009 season.
The Engineers have had numerous All-New England and All-ECAC athletes during Maceiko's tenure on Boynton Hill. A particular area of strength has been middle distance where four school records have been broken under his watchful eye.
As an athlete, Maceiko enjoyed a standout collegiate career at UMass-Amherst. A captain of the cross country team during his junior and senior season, Maceiko earned All-Atlantic 10 honors twice while picking up All-District accolades as a senior. He was part of the Minutemen's Atlantic 10 champion cross country squad in 1995.
Maceiko also enjoyed success on the track. During his indoor career, he was All-New England three times in the 4x800 and twice in the DMR. Maceiko, who earned a bachelors degree in Business Administration, also placed third in the 5000 meters at the All-New England Outdoor Championships.
Maceiko, a native of Deer Park, NY on Long Island, has worked at
Unum Group Insurance Company in Worcester since 1997 where he is a
Group Disability Underwriting Consultant. He lives in
Rutland, MA with his wife Meghan. The couple is avid fans of the
Worcester Tornadoes and East Side Post 201 American Legion baseball
teams.
