Arredondo Third in Hammer at New Balance Qualifying Challenge
Randall’s Island, NY --- Select members of the men’s track and field team competed at the New Balance Qualifying Challenge in New York. Although the meet included no team scoring, several WPI athletes turned in outstanding performances. Jarrett Arredondo led the way for the Engineers with a third place finish (169-3) in the hammer throw. Freshman Jeff Baker tossed the javelin 184-8 to take home fifth.

Men's Track Places Eighth at New England DIII Championships
New London, CT --- Ben Roy (Buxton, ME) and Jeff Baker (Wallingford, CT) each earned second place finishes to help the Engineers to an eighth place finish at the three-day New England Division III Championships held at Coast Guard Academy. WPI finished with 32 points while Williams took home the overall title with 151 points. On the day, WPI picked up nine All-New England honors (top eight finishes).

Rudolf and Baker Earn All-New England Women's Track Honors
New London, CT --- WPI Women's Track and Field finished 23rd overall at the New England Division III Championships hosted by Coast Guard Academy. Williams was the meet winner with 111 points. Stacy Rudolf brought home WPI's top finish, amassing 3191 points to place fifth in the seven event heptathlon. Teammate Amanda Gurnon finished behind Rudolf in tenth place with 2823 points.

14 Men's Track Student-Athletes Named Academic All-NEWMAC
Babson Park, MA --- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2008 Men's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday. WPI placed 14 student-athletes on the team this year, which is the second most in the conference behind MIT. WPI seniors honored include Pat Benson, Jon Bourque, Devin Auclair, Anthony DiOrio, Lou Grillon and Eugene Douglass.
