WPI Athletic Hall of Fame Welcomes 27th Induction Class
Worcester, MA --- The WPI Athletic Department, Poly Club, and Hall of Fame Selection Committee is proud to welcome its 27th Class, the Class of 2009. The five newest members were inducted on Friday, October 30, 2009 as part of Homecoming Weekend. They inductees include: Kerri (Coleman) Oldmixon ‘03 - Track and Field; John Loonie ‘87 - Basketball; Larry Penoncello ‘66 - Basketball; Jonathan Pires ‘00 - Football and Garrett Trombi ‘95 - Wrestling.

Amanda Gurnon '09 Named Phi Sigma Sigma Collegian of the Year
Worcester, MA --- WPI's Amanda Gurnon has been the 2008-2009 Beverly Parkes Collegian of the Year by Phi Sigma Sigma. Gurnon, a member of the class of 2009, was a four-year member of the track and field teams and a two-year starter with the women's soccer team.

WPI Track and Field Programs Honored by USTFCCCA
New Orleans, LA --- For the second year in a row, the WPI Men's and Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field programs were recognized as 2009 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Teams. The WPI women's team posted an impressive 3.37 grade point average, which was tied for 44th, while the men's cumulative average was 3.31 and 16th overall nationally.

Jillson and Arredondo Earn Academic All-America Honors
Worcester, MA --- Kevin Jillson and Jarrett Arredondo have been named ESPN The Magazine/Co-SIDA Academic All-Americans for Men's Track and Field and Cross Country. Jillson took home second team accolades, while Arredondo garnered third team honors. WPI and Division II Adams State (CO) were the only College Division institutions to have multiple student-athletes named to the teams.
