Selen Earns First Team All-NEWMAC Women's Basketball Honors

Kaileen Selen
Worcester, MA --- WPI's Kaileen Selen (Worcester, MA) has been selected first team All-NEWMAC after voting by the conference's women's basketball coaches today. The sophomore averaged a team-best 12.5 points while leading head coach Cherise Galasso's squad to the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals for the third time in four years.
Selen did more then just score for the Engineers. She was second in the NEWMAC with 65 steals and led the Crimson and Gray with 24 blocks while anchoring a WPI defensive that is currently 11th out of 425 NCAA Division III schools in scoring defensive (50.9 points allowed per game). Selen also made her presence felt on the boards, finishing second on the team with 5.1 rebounds per game from her guard position.
WPI finished the season with a 15-10 overall record and a 9-4 mark in the NEWMAC. The Engineers tied for third in the 10-team league and have now finished in at least the top three for the last three seasons.
