Babson Park, MA --- Three WPI women's basketball student-athletes have been named to the 2007-08 NEWMAC Women's Basketball All-Academic team. The Crimson and Gray were tied for the second most in the conference with Clark while Babson had the most with four athletes.

Senior Amber Dangelo (West Kingston, RI), junior Natasha Deschene (Presque Isle, ME) and sophomore Rachel Salvatori (Williston, VT) were each selected to the team.  It was the third consecutive honor for Dangelo and second straight for Deschene.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The NEWMAC consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

WPI finished the season at 15-10 overall and 9-4 in the league. The Engineers, coached by Cherise Galasso, finished in the top three of the NEWMAC for the third straight season and fell to eventual conference champion Wheaton in the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals.
