Dubois Leads Three From Women's Basketball Taking Home NEWMAC Awards

Babson Park, MA --- Three WPI women's basketball players received postseason awards from the New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tuesday afternoon. Serena Dubois received an all-NEWMAC first team selection, while Elle Fontaine and Natasha Deschene each were named to the all-NEWMAC second team.

Women's basketball player Serena Dubois (Bangor, ME) was honored as a member of the all-NEWMAC first team. Dubois leads the Engineers in scoring (14.3 ppg), rebounding (7.4 rpg) and steals (2.1 spg). She also has taken home three NEWMAC Player of the Week awards this season in addition to two New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) weekly honor roll awards.

Sophomore guard Elle Fontaine (Franklin, MA) and senior point guard Natasha Deschene (Presque Isle, ME) were named to the all-NEWMAC second team. Fontaine is second on the Engineers in scoring (12.2 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg) and leads the team in three-point shooting. Deschene averages 7.3 ppg and leads the team in assists at 3.1 per game.

Women's basketball, the NEWMAC regular season champion, has earned a berth in the ECAC New England Championship Tournament, and will be hosting the first round on Wednesday. The Engineers (21-6) will take on Colby-Sawyer (16-9) in the ECAC first round this Wednesday at 7pm at Harrington Auditorium.
