Hannmann Selected to Capital One Academic All-District I Women's Basketball First-Team

Worcester, MA --- Women's basketball's Lauren Hannmann (East Greenbush, NY) has been selected as a Capital One Academic All-District I first-team honoree by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). The voters represent NCAA Division II and III and NAIA programs in New England, New York and Eastern Canada. 

Hannmann, and the first-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the national Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The guard is among the top 10 in the NEWMAC for scoring (10th), and FG% (43.9).  Hannmann was named the 2009-10 Carolyn McCabe Award recipient as the sophomore female athlete who best exemplifies the high standards expressed in "The WPI Athlete".

Academically, the junior sports a 3.82 GPA while pursuing a degree in chemical engineering and a minor in business.  Hannmann also earned the Student Merit Scholarship and the Presidential Award.

Hannmann's IQP promoted sustainability and created a transportation map within the borough of Kingston in London.

Outside of the gym and classroom, the New York native is active in the Newman Club, Women's Industrial Network and is the Secretary of AICHE.
