February 8, 2012 Women's Basketball Pushes Winning Streak to Four in Victory Against Mount Holyoke Worcester, MA --- Theresa Logan poured in 22 points and pulled in six rebounds to lead WPI to a 53-36 win over Mount Holyoke on Wednesday night in women’s basketball action at Harrington Auditorium. WPI, winners of four straight, move into a tie for the sixth and final NEWMAC Tournament berth with Wheaton, a 47-42 loser to Wellesley on Wednesday evening. February 2, 2012 | Hannmann Repeats as First Team Capital One Academic All-District for Women's Basketball Worcester, MA --- WPI Women's Basketball student-athlete Lauren Hannmann has been named to the Capital One Division III Academic All-District I team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). Hannmann earned first team honors in District I for the second year in a row and advances to the national ballot for All-America consideration. Hannmann, an all-NEWMAC performer last winter, has had a strong senior season. >>
February 1, 2012 | Logan's Career Night Puts Women's Basketball Back in NEWMAC Playoff Chase Worcester, MA --- Theresa Logan erupted for a career-best of 26 points and 7 steals to help host WPI climb back in the NEWMAC playoff hunt with a 57-47 triumph over Wheaton in a NEWMAC women's basketball matchup on Wednesday evening. The victory secured the season sweep for WPI (6-14, 4-9) over Wheaton (8-12, 6-7) for the second straight season and moves WPI to two games behind the Lyons for the sixth and final spot in the NEWMAC Tournament with five games left to play. >>
January 28, 2012 | Davis, Logan and Defense Pace Women's Basketball in Home Win Against MIT Worcester, MA --- Dani Davis registered her first career double-double and the WPI defense limited MIT to 16.9% shooting from the floor as the homestanding Engineers notched a 61-28 victory in NEWMAC women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon. With the win, WPI improves to 5-14 overall and 3-9 in conference play. MIT slips to 8-10 on the season and 4-8 in the NEWMAC. Davis totaled 11 points and gobbled up a career-best 10 rebounds for WPI while Logan led all scorers with 14 points. >>
January 25, 2012 | Women's Basketball Knocked Off on the Road by Nationally-Ranked Babson Babson Park, MA --- Babson senior captain Kathleen King became just the third player in program history to record 1,000 career rebounds as she helped lead the Beavers to an 82-32 victory over visiting WPI in NEWMAC women’s basketball action at Staake Gymnasium on Wednesday night. WPI was paced by sophomore Siena Mamayek, who scored a team-high seven points, junior Cindy Chelius who pulled down a team-best seven rebounds. >>
January 25, 2012 | TELEGRAM FEATURE: Athletes serving as role models for area kids (WBB's Logan Featured) WPI junior Theresa Logan of Southboro, a forward on the women’s basketball team, has been matched with her Little Sister, 9-year-old Rebecca, a student at Elm Park Community School, for almost three years. “You have someone who looks up to you,” Logan said, “someone who depends on you. It’s very rewarding.” Logan has taken special pride in seeing Rebecca excel in math. The WPI women’s basketball team has been involved with BBBS since 2005 and a number of alums, coach Cherise Galasso said, have stayed in contact with their “Littles.” >>
January 21, 2012 | Clark Outlasts Women's Basketball Despite Game-High 23 Points from Hannmann Worcester, MA --- Megan Grondin racked up a career-high 20 points go along with five rebounds as Clark defeated host WPI 57-53 in a NEWMAC women’s basketball cross-town matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Harrington Auditorium. With the win, Clark now holds an 11-6 record with a 7-3 mark in the NEWMAC while WPI falls to 4-13 with a 2-8 conference record. January 18, 2012 | Smith's Second Stanza Shooting Surge Sinks Women's Basketball Worcester, MA --- Rosa Drummond led all scorers with 19 points to help Smith to a 74-57 win at WPI in NEWMAC women’s basketball action on Wednesday night at the Harrington Auditorium. The Pioneers of Smith climb to 11-4 with a 6-3 record in the NEWMAC while the Engineers of WPI fall to 4-12 with a 2-7 conference mark. January 14, 2012 | Davis, Hannmann and Morgan Hit Double Figures in Women's Basketball's Loss to Wellesley Worcester, MA --- Leslie Leong notched game-highs of 21 points and 14 rebounds and Morgyne Weaver came off the bench to add 16 points to propel Wellesley to a 58-51 road win over host WPI in a NEWMAC women’s basketball match-up on Saturday afternoon. January 11, 2012 | Hannmann and Logan Help Women's Basketball End Long Road Trip with OT Win South Hadley, MA --- Led by junior Theresa Logan the WPI women's basketball team picked up a thrilling 63-59 overtime victory over NEWMAC foe Mount Holyoke College this evening at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. The forward racked up 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for the Engineers, who snapped a five-game slide. WPI broke a 56-56 deadlock with six consecutive points over a span of 2:10 down the stretch. Logan keyed the run with a pair of free throws and a jumper from the top of the key. >>
