Lowell, MA --- Women’s Crew stared its season strong at the Textile River Regatta in Lowell. The Varsity Eight placed eighth of 18 boats.

The boat featured coxswain Allison DiNitto (Wakefield, MA), Katie Siering (Sheridan, OR), Kyla Bye-Nagle (Hanua, Germany), Amanda Ruksznis (Sidney, ME), Bridget Stevens (Cropseyville, NY), Laura Tracy (Pepperell, MA), Angie Wzorek (Westfield, MA), Laura Rockett (Pembroke, MA) and Lindsay Wood (Fairfield, CT). Ruksznis distinguished herself by winning the Women’s Club Single in a time of 28:43.873. It marked the first single winner during the tenure of ninth-year head coach Jason Steele.

The Crimson and Gray also received strong efforts from the Novice Eight (3rd place) and Open Four (18th place).

After taking a weekend off, the WPI will host Quinsigamond Head Race on Sunday, October 14th.
