Worcester, MA --- WPI Women's Crew kicked off its 2008 season facing off against Smith, Wesleyan, Colby, Connecticut College and Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon.

The novice four registered the only victory on the water for the Engineers, defeating Holy Cross by 42 seconds to take first place.  The combination of Chelsea Brown (Utica, NY), Bridget Stevens (Cropseyville, NY), Amanda Connor (Bolton, MA), Simone Staley (Albany, NY) and coxswain Shiela Muriel (Long Beach, CA) covered the 2000 meter course in 8:45.04.

The varsity eight team of Katie Siering (Sheridan, OR), Amanda Ruksznis (Sidney, ME), Kyla Bye-Nagle (Hanau, Germany) Lindsay Wood (Fairfield, CT), Laura Rockett (Pembroke, MA),  Stevens, Brown and Staley and coxswain finished in fourth place with a time of 7:24.62.

Women's Crew is back in action on Sunday, April 6th when they take on Mount Holyoke and Wellesley beginning at 8am.
