Women's Rowing Competes at the ECAC National Invitational on Lake Quinsigamond
Worcester, MA --- A late Ithaca surge in the petite finals of Women’s Varsity Eight will make it very difficult for WPI Women’s Rowing team to reach the NCAA Championships for the first time in program history. The Crimson and Gray finished second in the race Sunday at the ECAC National Invitational while the Second Varsity Eight was also second in the petite finals and the Third Varsity Eight capped its outstanding season with a fourth place showing in the Grand Final.

Women's Rowing Enjoys Historic Day While Pulling Double Duty
Worcester, MA --- After 21 years of never winning a race at the NEWMAC championships, the WPI Women’s Rowing team tasted victory twice in 10 minutes on Sunday, winning the Third Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight en route to a program-best second place overall performance Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond. No to be outdone, the Varsity Eight finished just over two seconds behind three-time champion Wellesley and came back later in the afternoon and defeated Tufts to win its third straight Bernie Brown Cup.

WPI Athletics Announces Schedule Changes for this Weekend
Worcester, MA --- Due to the on-going situation in and around the Boston-area, the NEWMAC Rowing championships, scheduled for Saturday, April 20, has been postponed. The championship will now be held on Sunday, April 21 on Lake Quinsigamond. The regatta will begin at 10:40am. WPI Men’s Rowing will host its men’s and women’s regatta on Saturday as scheduled and will also be racing on Sunday as originally planned. For Baseball and Softball

Women's Rowing Battles Nationally-Ranked Bates and Wellesley
Worcester, MA --- Racing against a pair of perennial national powers in Bates and Wellesley, the WPI women’s rowing team clocked solid times Sunday in competition on Lake Quisigamond. The eighth-ranked varsity eight finished third in a time of 7:00.35. No. 4 Bates won the race by 1.14 seconds over fifth-ranked Wellesley (6:52.50 to 6:53.64). The second varsity eight boosted WPI’s best showing of the day crossing the finish line in 7:07.50 behind Bates but more than 11 seconds ahead of Wellesley.

Women's Rowing Sees Third Varsity Eight win Donahue Cup Race, Three Others Second
Worcester, MA --- WPI women’s rowing competed for the Donahue Cup on Saturday, squaring off with Williams, Simmons, Connecticut College and Franklin & Marshall on Lake Quisigamond. The eighth-ranked varsity eight was second (7:01.64) finishing behind top-ranked Williams but ahead of the three boats. The third varsity eight handed Williams its first spring defeat in years, finishing 8 1/2 seconds ahead of the Ephs (7:23.40 to 7:31.90).

Women's Rowing Makes 2013 Spring Debut on Lake Quisigamond
Worcester, MA --- The WPI women's rowing program registered three second place finishes and added a third place performance Saturday morning on Lake Quisigamond in its first spring race of 2013. In a race that featured three boats in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches Top 15, the eighth-ranked varsity eight comprised of Amy Loomis, Caitlin Heindl, Maggie Freed, Emily Hofmeister, Macauley Kenney, SaraBeth Leach, Corre Steele, Brooke Cotta and coxswain Emily Johnson placed second (6:51.3) just under four seconds behind sixth-ranked Wesleyan and eight seconds ahead of No. 13 Smith.

WPI Unveils State-of-the-Art Rowing Tank
Through the generosity of Barbara “Babs” Donahue, the WPI Crew programs now have a state-of-the-art rowing tank in the brand new Sports and Recreation Center. The tank will be used by the nearly 100 members of the men’s and women’s programs and is the only rowing tank of its kind at a DIII school. Donahue’s gift - which was the first major gift to support the new center - honors her late husband, Jim Donahue '44, as well as his fondness for WPI and passion for rowing.

Women's Crew Wraps Up 2012 Fall Campaign at the Head of the Fish Regatta
Saratoga Springs, NY --- The WPI women’s crew concluded its fall season Saturday at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs. NY. The varsity eight entry of Emily Hofmeister, Liz Audet, Caitlin Heindl, Maggie Freed, Macauley Kenney, Brooke Cotta, SaraBeth Leach, Corre Steele and coxswain Emily Johnson wrapped up a strong fall season with a fifth-place time of 12:14.86.

Women's Crew Impressive Seventh in Collegiate Eight at the Head of the Charles
Cambridge, MA --- WPI women’s crew had an outstanding showing this weekend at the iconic annual Head of the Charles Regatta. The Engineers saw its varsity eight placed seventh in the collegiate eight and the second varsity eight finished 22nd in the club eight at the 48th annual event. The varsity eighth crossed the finish line in 18:13.021 less than four seconds behind perennial NCAA championship participants Wellesley and Bates, who were fifth and sixth.

Women's Crew Strong at Home in Quinsigamond Snake Regatta
Worcester, MA --- Saturday marked the annual Quinsigamond Snake Regatta host by WPI women’s crew. The varsity eight comprised of Emily Hofmeister , Liz Audet, Caitlin Heindl, Maggie Freed, Macauley Kenney, Brooke Cotta, SaraBeth Leach, Corre Steele and coxswain Emily Johnson had an outstanding race, finishing fourth (15:51.608) behind only Division I Holy Cross and 2012 NCAA Championship participants Wellesley and Bates.

WPI Poly Club Welcome Five New Additions into Athletics Hall of Fame
The WPI Athletic Department, Poly Club, and Hall of Fame Selection Committee is proud to announce its 30th Class, the Class of 2012. The five newest members were inducted on Friday, October 5, 2012 as part of Homecoming Weekend. They include: Rick Maguire '90, Jessica McClear '04, John C. Pavlos, Joel Rousseau '07 and Stan Szymanski '64.
