and Arty Privedenyuk (Springfield , MA) each
notched pins to help visiting Rhode Island College defeat WPI 33-6
in wrestling action on Wednesday evening. With the win the
Anchormen improve to 6-5 while WPI falls to 3-8.
Rhode Island College also got decision wins from Mike Bonora
(Nutley, NJ) at 141 pounds, Mike Martini
(Cranston, RI) at 157, Brendan Casey (Lowell, MA)
at 174, Kevin Davis (Amston, CT) at 184, Nick
Logan (Lowell, MA) at 197, and Andrew
Algarin at 285. The Anchorman closed the match with four
straight close victories. Casey pulled through with a sudden
victory in overtime with a 7-5 decision. Davis managed a close 4-0
victory while Logan rallied to earn a 3-2 win. The evening ended
with a tightly contested match between Algarin and WPI's
Josh Rodden (Sabina, OH) ending with a 2-1
decision favoring the visitor.
Things started well for WPI who got a 10-7 victory from
Carl Anderson (Billerica, MA) at 125. Also winning
for the Engineers was David Laramee (Rockland, MA)
at 149.
Both teams return to action on Sunday when they participate in the
NECCWA Dual Championships hosted by Bridgewater. Seedings and
brackets for the 15-team tournament will be release during the day
on Thursday.
