Plymouth State 26, WPI Wrestling 20

Worcester, MA - Joe McGowan (Lincolnville, ME), Jared Laganas (Dracut, MA), and Ryan Shieding (Manchester, NH) all registered pins to help Plymouth State defeat host WPI 26-20 in college wrestling action on Wednesday evening. The Panthers, who defeated the Engineers 28-20 last Sunday at the NECCWA Duals Tournament, improve to 5-9 while WPI dips to 5-11.

Plymouth State earned major decisions from Bobby Murray (Salem, NH) at 149 pounds and Josh St. Ours (Manchester, NH) at 197.  The Panthers took control of the match with three straight victories including the pins from Laganas and Shieding at 157 and 165 respectively.

Larry Loomis (Plainfield, CT) notched a second period pin for the Engineers at 174 pounds while Roman Walsh (Wilmington, MA) tallied a technical fall at 141.  WPI posted wins via decisions from Carl Anderson (Billerica, MA) at 125, Adam Kreitman (Salem, NH) at 184, and Josh Rodden (Sabina, OH) at 285. Close matches were wrestled by Anderson, winning 3-1, and Kreitman, earning a 4-3 victory.
 
Both teams return to the mats on Saturday.  WPI travels to Ewing, NJ for the NECCWA-Metro Duals where they face host College of New Jersey, Montclair State and Hunter beginning at noon.  Plymouth State entertains Bridgewater State, MIT and Norwich in a quad meet also starting at noon. Results
