WPI Wrestling 14, Bryant 6
Worcester, MA --- The WPI wrestling team posted a 1-1 record as they hosted both Roger Williams and Bryant in a college wrestling tri-meet on Wednesday evening. WPI is now 7-15 on the season.
In the evening's first meet, Trevor Vernon (Great Meadows, NJ), Chris Nadeau (Granby, CT), and Michael Viscariello (Concord, MA) all registered pins to help Roger Williams defeat WPI 28-15. WPI got on the board early when Carl Anderson (Billerica, MA) picked up a decision at 125 pounds, but Roger Williams would rattle off two quick wins including a pin from Vernon and a major decision from Andrew Lacroix (Salem, NH) at 141 pounds. WPI battled back to within four (10-6) with a decision from David Laramee (Rockland, MA) but that is as close as the Engineers would come as the Hawks won four of the last six matches. WPI's Larry Loomis (Plainfield, CT) picked up a major decision at 174 pounds while Adam Kreitman (Salem, NH) notched the Engineers only pin of the match at 184 pounds.
In the evening's second match, WPI picked up a 14-6 win over Bryant in match with six no-contests. Anderson earned his second win of the night when he notched a pin at 125 for the Engineers to begin the contest. Loomis grabbed his second victory on a technical fall at 174 pounds while heavyweight Josh Rodden (Sabina, OH) picked up the win at 285. Bryant's only points came on a pin from Tim Petrides (Norwalk, CT) at 184 pounds.
In the nightcap, Roger Williams defeated Bryant 18-6. Nadeau and Jeremiah Mahoney (Madison, CT) each recorded pins while John Russo (Berlin, CT) posted a decision at 285 pounds to help lead the Hawks to the quick win. Once again for Bryant, Petrides would tally a pin at 184 pounds for the Bulldogs.
