Loomis, Anderson & Howe Excel for Wrestling at NEWA Championships

Gorham, ME --- Junior Larry Loomis (Plainfield, CT) advanced in the 174-pound weight class to lead WPI in the first day of the 2008 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA Championships.  The Engineers currently sit in 14th place with 11 points. 

Loomis recorded a 2-1 record, including a pin, to guarantee himself All New England honors for the second consecutive year.  Sophomore 125-pounder Carl Anderson (Billerica, MA) wrestled his way to a 2-2 record while freshman Tyler Howe (Danbury, CT) registered a 1-2 record while picking up a pin at 157 pounds. 

Other WPI participants included Jeff Root (Milford, CT) at 133, Dennis Sullivan (Poughquag, NY) at 141 pounds, Matt Wainwright (North Attleboro, MA) at 149, Scott Guzman (Acton, ME) at 184, John Gikas (North Andover, MA) at 197, and Anthony Corbo (Port Washington, NY) at heavyweight. 

Loomis returns to action on Sunday as he looks to win his way to the top of the 174 pound weight class.
