Gilman Tallies Pin in Wrestling's 27-18 Loss to Bridgewater State
Worcester, MA --- Bridgewater State rallied from an early 15-0 deficit by winning six straight bouts to defeat host WPI 27-18 in a NEWA matchup on Saturday afternoon. WPI had jumped out to an early advantage when Dan Gilman opened the match with a pin at 125 pounds, Matthew Poppa won by forfeit at 133 and Carl Anderson won a tight 4-3 decision at 141.

Wrestling Rallies for 23-23 Tie Against Arch Rival Coast Guard
Worcester, MA --- WPI rallied in dramatic fashion to win the final three bouts to force a 23-23 tie with NEWA rival Coast Guard on Tuesday evening. Trailing 23-8 after seven matches, WPI received a first-period pin from Joe Pasquerelli at 285 and a forfeit victory from Matthew Poppa at 125 to slice the deficit to 23-20. That set the stage for Carl Anderson. WPI's lone senior rallied from a third period deficit to win the bout 5-4 in the final 10 seconds.

Anderson and Pasquerelli Shine for Wrestling at NEWA-Metro Duals
Williamstown, MA --- Carl Anderson and Joe Pasquerelli combined for five wins for WPI as the Engineers completed in the NEWA-Metro Duals hosted by Williams on Saturday afternoon. Anderson went 3-0 on the day, win by decision versus his opponents from the College of New Jersey and NYU and by major decision against Hunter. Pasquerelli, got his first career win by forfeit versus NYU before a pin just 1:11 into his match against Hunter.

Wrestling Goes 1-3 at NEWA Duals; Program One Win Away From 500
Springfield, MA --- The WPI wrestling team placed 14th at the NEWA Team Duals on Sunday. The Engineers went 1-3 during the 15-team event and are now 2-13 on the season. The Crimson and Gray opened the event with a 47-0 loss to third-seeded Wesleyan before dropping a 24-14 decision to Western New England. WPI broke in to the win column with a 31-18 victory over MIT. The win is the 499th victory in the history of the storied program. The Engineers were defeated by Coast Guard 49-6 in their final match of the day.
