Lynn Worobey Named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District

Worcester, MA -- WPI women's soccer player Lynn Worobey (Westerly, RI) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District 1 second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). Worobey is just one of twelve defenders to be named All-District 1, which is made up of all Division II and III schools in New England and New York.

Worobey, a junior, has earned a 4.00 GPA while majoring in Biomedical Engineering. This past summer she participated in the National Science Foundation Scholar's Program at the University of Rochester. Worobey completed research with Dr. Anne Leubke regarding Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide Efferent Signaling in the Xenopus Lateral-Line Organ.

This past season she started the last 12 matches after an early season injury. She anchored the defense for 12th year head coach Stephanie Carlson while also seeing time in the midfield. The tri-captain helped the Engineers to a 6-11-1 record in 2006.

Worobey, a native of Westerly RI, is the daughter of Nick and Nancy Worobey. She is involved in a leadership role with several on-campus organizations including the Women's Industry Network, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and the NCAA Leadership Development program.
