WPI's Lynn Worobey Selected Third Team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Women's Soccer Academic All-America

Worcester, MA --- WPI women's soccer defender Lynn Worobey has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA).
Worobey has earned a 3.97 GPA while majoring in Biomedical Engineering. This past year she was the lone WPI student to be selected a 2007-08 Goldwater Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation.
In the spring, Worbry was presented with the WPI Poly Club award as top female athlete in the junior class. This past summer, she worked with Dr. Kristen Billiar and Dr. George Pins regarding the design and characterization of collagen fiber-reinforced fibrin gels.
Worobey started in 16 of 17 matches for the Engineers tallying an assist, a goal, and three points. The tri-captain anchored a defense that posted a 7-11 record for head coach Stephanie Carlson in 2007. Prior to being named All-America, Worobey garnered an All-NEWMAC Academic selection for the third-straight time. This season she had been tabbed first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I after being named second team in 2006.
Worobey, a native of Westerly RI , is the daughter of Nick and Nancy Worobey. She is involved in a leadership role with several on-campus organizations including the Women's Industry Network, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and the NCAA Leadership Development program.
