Moody Nets Game-Winner in Women's Soccer Win at Salve

Newport, RI --- Jocelyn Moody (Bainbridge Island, WA) tallied the only goal of the game to help lift visiting WPI to a 1-0 victory over Salve Regina in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday afternoon.  The contest was the season opener for both squads.

Moody's goal, the 14th of standout career, came on an assist from fellow senior co-captain Meg Pasquali (Laconia, NH) following a corner kick. 

The Engineers had a pair of goalies share time en route to registering the shutout.  Senior Sabrina Zayas (Canton, MA) made a save during her 33:12 of work to start the game while Abaigeal Caras (Essex, CT) was credited with two stops over the final 56:48.

Katie Vaudrain (Pawtucket, RI) made three saves in net for the Seahawks, who held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks despite being outshot 15-5. 

WPI returns to action on Tuesday at 7pm when they play the middle game of a three-game season opening road trip against nationally ranked Western Connecticut.  Salve Regina is off until Saturday, September 6th when they travel to Simmons for a 1pm contest.
