Worcester, MA --- Kristen Garza (Kingston, MA) tallied a pair of second half goals to help propel WPI to a 2-0 shutout over visiting Elms in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon.  With the result, WPI ups its record to 3-2 while Elms slips to 0-2.

After a scoreless first half WPI scored midway through the second stanza when Victoria Howland (Red Hook, NY) fed Garza on a though pass in the 63rd minute. Garza added an insurance marker when she buried a pass from Hilary Rotatori (Auburn, MA) in the 82nd minute.

Garza, who set the school single-season scoring mark with 15 goals a year ago, now has 18 career tallies in 23 games.

WPI netminder Abaigeal Caras (Essex, CT) was called on to make two saves en route to registering her second shutout of the season.  Elms goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, MA) collected four saves, including an eye-popping stop on a Jocelyn Moody (Bainbridge Island, WA) rocket from point blank range in the 50th minute.

On the day, the Engineers enjoyed a 17-3 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.

WPI hits the road Saturday for a noon match at Fitchburg State.  The contest will be their only road game until October 7th as they return home for a five-game homestand.  Elms is back in action on Thursday with a 7pm home match against MCLA.
