New London, CT ---  Three different players scored as WPI snapped a five-game losing streak and picked up its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win of the season with a 3-2 victory over host Coast Guard.

The Bears got on the board first in the 14th minute as junior Katie Kurek (Williamstown, NJ) scored her team-high 11th goal of the season with senior Trish Ohle (Franklin Lakes NJ) assisting.

WPI (6-9, 1-5) tied the match with 4:38 left in the first half on a goal by freshman Suzanne Najem (Derry, NH) with senior Jocelyn Moody (Bainbridge Island, WA) adding the assist.

The Engineers took the lead in the 55th minute when Moody scored an unassisted goal.

WPI scored an insurance goal, the eventual game winner, with exactly 20 minutes left when freshman Victoria Howland (Red Hook, NY) found the back of the net while sophomore Kristen Garza (Kingston, MA) assisted on the score.

Kurek pulled Coast Guard (5-8, 1-5) to within a goal in the 74th minute with her 12th score of the season with Ohle again assisting, but that would be all the scoring in the game.

Sophomore Abaigeal Caras (Essex, CT) made four saves to pickup the win for WPI while freshman Mary Mills (Amherst, NH) saves in the loss for Coast Guard which was outshot 13-9.

The Crimson and Gray will return to the field on Tuesday evening with a key NEWMAC home match versus Smith.  Kickoff is slated for 7pm.  Coast Guard is also back in action at the same time on Tuesday, hosting Springfield.
