Worcester, MA --- Women's Soccer senior Kristen Garza (Kingston, MA) has not yet played her final match as a representative of WPI. The forward has been selected to participate in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl on Saturday December 4th. The contest will be held at 2:30pm on the campus of Merrimack College and will feature seniors from all three NCAA divisions.
Garza led the Engineers with six assists in her senior campaign and was second on the team with six goals, 18 points and two game-winning goals. The Kingston native leaves the program as the WPI career-leader in goals (44) and points (106).
Over the four years, Garza has garnered numerous honors including being named a two-time ESPN/CoSIDA All-District Academic student-athlete. In the NEWMAC, the senior earned All-Conference honors all four years for her play on the field, and in the process is the first Engineer in the 16-year history of the program to do so. For her work in the classroom, Garza, earned All-Academic honors during all three years of eligibility.
The senior is a management information systems major with minors in computer science and international studies. Her IQP project was Measuring the Impact of Non-Formal Education Programs and earned a sufficiency in bioethics. Around campus Garza is a member of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, and an admissions intern.
