Holton Selected as Head Women's Soccer Coach/Assistant SID
Worcester, MA --- WPI Director of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Dana L. Harmon announced today the hiring of Corey Holton as the Head Women's Soccer Coach. Holton becomes the first full-time coach in the 17-year history of women’s soccer at the university and will have additional responsibilities including teaching physical education classes and serving as an assistant sports information director. Holton arrives at WPI after three record-breaking seasons as head coach of Concordia (TX).

Nine Women's Soccer Players Distinguish Themselves as Academic All-NEWMAC
Babson Park, MA --- Nine student-athletes from the WPI women’s soccer program were named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team on Wednesday, a total that ranked second among the conference behind only the ten honorees from Clark. Seniors Kat Kulzer and Hailey Taylor were each named to the team for the third consecutive season. Senior Suzanne Najem and Sophomores Kelly Ames, Britney Atwater, Megan Forti, Courtney Langley, Theresa Renna and Maddie Willer each made the team for the first time.

Ames Draws All-NEWMAC Nod For Women's Soccer
Babson Park, MA --- WPI women’s soccer midfielder Kelly Ames has been selected to the All-NEWMAC team based on voting by conference coaches announced on Tuesday. The sophomore earned second team accolades from the 10-team conference. Ames led the Engineers in goal scoring this past fall, netting four markers. She proved she had a flair for the dramatics when she tallied the lone goal of the game with just 20 seconds remaining in WPI’s thrilling 1-0 victory over Wentworth in late September.

Taylor Named First Team Capital One Academic All-District for Women's Soccer
Worcester, MA --- Women’s Soccer student-athlete Hailey Taylor has been selected to the Capital One Division III Academic All-District I team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). It marks the third straight year Taylor has garnered all-district accolades and the second consecutive season the senior has earned first team honors and advances to the national ballot for All-America consideration.

Women's Soccer's Season Finale Against Smith Canceled
Worcester, MA --- The NEWMAC women's soccer game between Smith and host WPI has been canceled. The match, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 29th and rescheduled for Tuesday, November 1st, was called off due to the historic early winter storm. Plans to honor the five seniors - Kayla Ray worth, Suzanne Najem, Hailey Taylor, Tori Howland, and Kat Kulzer - during halftime of the football game on Saturday, November 12th.

WPI Weekly Athletics Update #9
Women's Soccer's Megan Forti and Football's Manny Cambra have been named WPI Athletes of the Week. Forti scored a goal and assisted on three others in the snowy 7-0 win over Becker. The sophomore leads the Engineers with 10 points. Cambra collected a pair of interceptions in his first defensive appearance of the season. Offensively, the senior caught six passes for 43 yards and amassed 122 all-purpose yards on Saturday.

Snow Postpones Women's Soccer Senior Day Against Smith
Worcester, MA --- Heavy snowfall in the Worcester area has forced the postponement of today's Senior Day match versus Smith. A make-up date will not be announced until after the snowstorm.

Women's Soccer Dodges Snowflakes and Becker in Shutout Win
Worcester, MA --- With the first snow of the season coming down heavy on Thursday evening, WPI defeated the visiting Hawks of Becker 7-0 in women’s soccer action at Alumni Field. With the victory, WPI is now 4-12-1 on the season while Becker splits to 8-7-2. Seven different players scored for the Engineers, and Megan Forti finished with three assists and one marker of her own. WPI will play its final game of the season this Saturday as they entertain the Pioneers of Smith on Saturday in a 4:30pm contest.

Second Half Surge Dooms Women’s Soccer at Wellesley
Wellesley, MA --- Sophomore defender LJ Foster netted an improbable hat trick leading the Wellesley soccer team to a 5-1 victory over NEWMAC-rival WPI on Saturday. The win considerable helps the Blue’s playoff chances, shifting their conference mark to 3-5 (4-10-3 overall), while WPI drops from playoff contention with a 2-6 NEWMAC record (3-12-1 overall). Foster’s heroics turned a 1-1 tie into a 4-1 Wellesley advantage in just six minutes of work.

Women's Soccer Catapults into NEWMAC Tournament Race with Win at Mount Holyoke
South Hadley, MA --- Senior midfielder Suzanne Najem scored what proved to be the winner in the final minute of the first half, as the WPI soccer team topped Mount Holyoke 2-1 this afternoon at the Mount Holyoke Soccer Field. WPI now has four points in NEWMAC play and trails Mount Holyoke and Wellesley by only two points for the sixth and final NEWMAC Tournament slot.

Women's Soccer Tripped Up by Clark in NEWMAC Showdown
Worcester, MA --- Clark received goals early in each half and senior goalkeeper Audrey Eisemann made it standup with her fifth shutout of the season as the visiting Cougars defeated WPI 3-0 in a NEWMAC women’s soccer matchup on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Clark improves to 5-7-2 and boosts its conference record to 3-2-1. WPI is now 2-11-1 on the season and 0-5-1 in NEWMAC action.
