• Jennifer Parker Named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District

    Worcester, MA - WPI volleyball player Jennifer Parker (Rochester, MA) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District 1 first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). Parker, who now advances to the national ballot, is just one of six players to be named first team in District 1, which is made up of all Division II and III schools in New England and New York.

    Babson Park, MA - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2006 NEWMAC Volleyball Academic All-Conference Team. Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2006 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

    Babson Park, MA - The Babson College women's volleyball team shut out visiting WPI, 3-0, in the final match of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season on Saturday, winning by game scores of 30-25, 30-14, 30-18. The Beavers (8-16, 2-7 NEWMAC) now have their highest win total since 2002, and with a loss by Mount Holyoke can secure their first bid to the conference tournament since that same season.

    Worcester, MA - Nicole Gurr (Acton, CA) tallied 19 kills and two solo blocks to help propel Coast Guard to a 3-0 (30-16, 30-12, 30-17) victory over host WPI in NEWMAC volleyball action on Tuesday evening. The win marks the 200th coaching victory for Coast Guard head coach Patty Giannattasio who now sports an impressive 200-98 record over ten seasons at the helm.

The Engineers claimed the title based on a complicated tie-beaker.
