WPI Loses to MIT 3-0

Worcester, MA --- Ellen Sojka (West Lafayette, IN) notched seven kills and five blocks to help MIT defeat host WPI 3-0 in NEWMAC volleyball action on Tuesday evening. MIT took the match by scores of 30-13, 30-15 and 30-25 to improve to 11-1 overall (3-0 NEWMAC) while WPI drops to 5-8 (0-3 NEWMAC) on the year.
MIT setter Amanda Morris (North Potomac, MD) topped all players with 18 assists. Frances Rogoz (Lincolnwood, IL) and Katie Rowe (Los Alamitos, CA) both tallied five kills while Lindsay Hunting (West Chester, PA) and Carrie Buchanan (Carthage, TX) totaled 12 and nine digs respectively. Kathy Melnikow (Yorkville, NY) tallied five service aces in the win for MIT.
Yaralia Castillo (Methuen, MA) led the WPI offense with seven kills and nine digs while Jennifer Parker (Rochester, MA) chipped in with 16 assists. Katie Bomba (Chelmsford, MA) contributed 12 digs for WPI.
WPI returns to action on Thursday when they entertain Becker in a match scheduled to start at 7pm. MIT will have a busy weekend ahead as they host the MIT Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
