Mount Holyoke Hands WPI 3-0 loss

Worcester, MA --- Mount Holyoke earned its first NEWMAC win of the year with a 3-0 road victory over WPI Tuesday evening. The Lyons took the match by scores of 30-21, 30-21 and 30-22.
Emily Groth (Franklin, MA) paced Mount Holyoke with nine kills while Kendall Burns (Houston, TX) and Chelsea Tracy (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) registered seven and four kills respectively. Rachel West (St. Paul, MN) added a team-high 25 assist for the Lyons and Burns and Tracy each chipped in with three service aces.
WPI received outstanding performances from both of its seniors. Yaralia Castillo (Methuen, MA) led all players with 10 kills and Jennifer Parker (Rochester, MA) added a match-best 27 assists. Nikki Croteau (Wilbraham, MA) added nine assists for the Engineers who also received 16 digs from Katie Bomba (Chelmsford, MA) and 13 from Castillo.
With the win, Mount Holyoke improved to 6-5 overall and 1-4 in NEWMAC action while WPI dips to 9-11 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.
WPI returns to the court on Thursday with a road match at Pine Manor at 7pm. Mount Holyoke will host the Seven Sisters Championship this Friday and Saturday.
