Jennifer Parker Named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District

Worcester, MA --- WPI volleyball player Jennifer Parker (Rochester, MA) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District 1 first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). Parker, who now advances to the national ballot, is just one of six players to be named first team in District 1, which is made up of all Division II and III schools in New England and New York.

Parker sports a 3.78 GPA while majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Spanish. Her IQP project integrated Street Management in London while her MQP project studied Ajulenic Acid and Lupus at UMass-Medical School.

In 2006 Parker made a seamless transition from hitter to setter for first year head coach Gary Patch. She led WPI with 756 assists and 76 aces while helping the Engineers to a 11-16 record. Parker, a five-time NEWMAC All-Academic Team member in Volleyball and Softball, played a key role (4-2, 2.08 ERA) as softball pitcher during WPI's record-setting season (23 wins) last spring.

Parker, who played scholastically at Old Rochester Regional, is the daughter of Craig and Doreen Parker. At WPI she is a member of the Chemistry Honor Society and the Women's Industry Network.
