Leo Fahey Named Head Volleyball Coach at WPI

Worcester, MA - WPI Director of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Dana L. Harmon announced today the hiring of Leo Fahey as the Head Women's Volleyball Coach. Fahey replaces Gary Patch, who coached the team during the 2006 season.
Fahey comes to WPI after a four-year stint as co-founder, director and coach of the Central Mass Juniors Volleyball Club. He helped form the club, which featured 12-18 year olds and produced numerous eventual college volleyball players. Prior to his tenure at Central Mass Juniors, Fahey coached at Coast Volleyball and Sharks Volleyball clubs.
"We are thrilled to have Leo lead our volleyball program and join our staff," said Harmon. "We have no doubt that his proven success at the club and high school level will continue at the collegiate level."
For ten years, Fahey led the Hudson High School varsity program. He guided the team to undefeated Mid-Wach B championships for the first time in 2001 and 2002. In both seasons, the Hawks reached the Central Mass Division II quarterfinals.
"I am very happy and excited about the opportunity to join the WPI family," stated Fahey. "I feel extremely lucky to be part of a program that stresses both academic and athletic excellence and look forward to working with such talented student-athletes. My main goal is to continue the process of building a successful volleyball program that will be able to compete in a very tough NEWMAC conference."
Fahey graduated from Assumption College in 1986 with a degree in Politics. He played football, basketball and track scholastically at Hudson High School and now works in the insurance industry. He and his family reside in Hudson.
