WPI Women's Volleyball Defeats Clark 3-2 in NEWMAC action

Boston, MA --- Becca Holmberg (Madison, CT) and Kate Woodman (Fairfield, CT) posted double-doubles to help WPI win its first NEWMAC match since 2005 with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over visiting Clark on Tuesday evening.  The Crimson and Gray won by games scores of 30-22, 22-30, 30-22, 22-30 and 15-8.

The Engineers are now 6-12 overall and 1-3 in conference play while Clark is 4-9 on the season and 0-4 in NEWMAC action.

Holmberg paced WPI with 19 kills and 16 digs while Woodman tallied 14 kills and 13 digs.  Nikki Croteau (Wilbraham, MA) registered 52 assists and 11 digs for the Engineers while Christina Grant (Mansfield, MA) contributed 13 kills and three blocks and Becca Mattern (Rockville, CT) added 11 kills with just two errors in 21 attempts (.429 hitting percentage).

Sarah Hunsucker (Orinda, CA) led Clark with a game-best 20 kills while Emily Visone (West Hampstead, NY) totaled a game-high 28 digs.  Karleen Porcena (Roxbury, MA) chipped in with 12 kills on the night for the Cougars.

Both teams return to the court with road matches on Thursday.  WPI travels to Bay Path for a 7:30pm match-up while Clark is at Newbury for a match beginning at 7pm.
