Amrein Shines Versus Pine Manor in Volleyball Split at Emerson

Boston, MA --- Freshman Kate Amrein (Nashua, NH) hit .429 with a match-best 11 kills to go with seven digs, three aces and a block assist as WPI split a women's volleyball trimatch with Emerson and Pine Manor Saturday at Brown & Plofker Gym.

The Engineers (6-10, 1-5 NEWMAC) fell to the host Lions (6-7, 2-3) 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-23) and rebounded with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-5, 25-8) win over the Gators (3-9).

 

WPI vs Emerson Highlights

  • The freshman duo of Sarah Kwatinetz (Seattle, WA) and Amanda Wetmore (Hudson, NH) combined for 15 kills.
  • Junior Azita Bakhtyari (Andover, MA) doled out 26 assists.
  • Junior Victoria Nassar (Salem, NH) tallied 21 digs.
  • Sophomore Colleen Mullins (Andover, MA) served up four aces.
  • Emerson freshman Grace Tepper (Kensington, MD) led all student-athletes with 14 kills and junior Kelley Guerra (Randolph, MA) added 10.
  • Defensively, Guerra tallied five block assists and Tepper followed with four.
  • Junior Moira Brennan (Glenview, IL) handed out 32 helpers.
  • Junior Fara Cohen (Morristown, NJ) came up with 25 digs as Tepper chipped in with 12 and sophomore Kayleen Bertrand (New Boston, NH) with 10.

 

WPI vs Pine Manor Highlights

  • Freshman Julia DeLo (Tulsa, OK) handed off a match-high 19 assists.
  • Sophomore Abbie Gilbert (Hopkinton, MA) registered five aces.
  • Nassar volleyed 13 digs.
  • Sophomore Alexa Leon (El Centro, CA) notched a contest-best 14 digs for Pine Manor.

 

All three teams resume action at 7pm Tuesday. WPI is at Coast Guard, Emerson is at Wheaton and Pine Manor at Mass. Maritime.
