Northampton, MA - Senior Pat Benson (Foxboro, MA) placed fifth with his time of 28:20.16 to help WPI to a third place finish at the Smith Invitational in Northampton, MA. 

In addition, WPI was running for rights to the Engineers Cup versus MIT and Rensselaer.  The Crimson and Gray came up just short finishing second to meet winner MIT. 

Chris Gabrielson (Westford, MA) ran to a 12th place finish (28:50.07) and Kevin Jillson (East Sandwich, MA) placed 19th (29:12.44).  Keith Flanders (Westford, MA) finished the 8k course in 29:44.03 to grab the 29th spot while teammate Daniel Duffty (Haverhill, MA) finished in 30th (29:45.46).  Eugene Douglass (Concord, NH) and Eric Connelly (Tucson, AZ) ran to 43rd and 46th place, respectively, to round out the top seven for the Crimson and Gray.

Men's Cross Country competes at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday at 10:30am.
