Men's Cross Country Team Places 1st at Worcester City Invitational
Paxton, MA --- Chris Gabrielson (Westford, MA) of the WPI men's cross country team ran to a second place finish (28:19) to help the Engineers win the Worcester City Championship on Saturday afternoon. It marked the 14th straight time the Engineers have won the City Meet and 35th time in the 41-year history of the event.
WPI had a solid contingent (30 pts) that had three of the top six and eight in the top fifteen in the meet held at Moore State Park in Paxton, MA
Kevin Jillson (East Sandwich, MA) was third overall (28:24) followed by teammate Pat Benson (Foxboro, MA) in sixth (29:03). The Engineers combined to grab the 9th-13th places and take control of the race. Isaiah Janzen (Sabetha, KS) was ninth (29:23) followed by Eugene Douglass (Concord, NH) in tenth (29:25), Peter Brown (Andover, MA) in 11th (29:39), junior Chris McCann (Haverhill, MA) in 12th (29:43) and Keith Flanders (Westford, MA) in 13(29:46).
WPI is back in action this Saturday when they travel to the Community College of Rhode Island for the Tri-State Invitational beginning at 10am.
